In 1992, Clinton got 50% or more of the vote in 3 states and Bush in 1 state. In 1996, Clinton got 50% or more of the vote in 19 states and Dole in 9 states. The percentage of voters who voted for Perot(independent) in 92 and then in 96 did not vote independent went in 96 in the following: 18 states gave Dole a greater percentage of the independent votes lost from 92 to 96,and 29 states to Clinton and a tie in 3 states.
