Global TeleMedia Negotiates International Network to Network Connectivity With Telecom Industry Giants
Global TeleMedia in Negotiations With WorldCom, SingTel, Sprint, Genuity And iPass for International Network-to-Network Connectivity And Termination of International Traffic
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Global TeleMedia International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: GTMI) (www.gtmi.com) announced that senior management is currently negotiating network connectivity and international traffic terminations with some of the industries multinational giants. Chief Operating Officer, John L. Walsh has received and is currently negotiating contracts from WorldCom, Sprint, Optus, SingTel and iPass. The contracts revolve around international and domestic origination / termination or exchange of data, VoIP and conventional voice traffic. Major telecoms are wishing to terminate calls into the Australian BentleyTel Network and BentleyTel shall reciprocate by originating / transmitting calls into other networks for international and domestic termination. The contracts also offer frame relay, network connectivity, card calling platforms and international ISP connectivity.
COO John L. Walsh said, "It is a very interesting time in the history of telecommunications. Telecoms including WorldCom are dividing to focus on VoIP/ISP. Again GTMI-BentleyTel is leading the way with a totally new VoIP network which soon will offer such enhanced services as unified messaging. In order to attract the type of interest we are enjoying, we had to first complete our Australian National VoIP Network. With our own national frame-relay network, we are attractive as a potential partner to other multinational companies, for example BentleyTel has more POP's (switches) in Australia than WorldCom, Sprint or SingTel, so it is a natural fit for these and other Telecoms to explore joining the networks in order to exchange traffic, reduce costs and maximize revenues. Companies such as iPass offer international ISP dial up so BentleyTel members can access the BentleyTel network world-wide by dialing a local number. This is important as BentleyTel moves into the international Unified Messaging arena through the BentleyTel.com Global Connexion Card."
He continued, "The key to the success of these negotiations was the recently announced reduction of GTMI's debt. Many of these contracts are in the final stages of negotiation and could be signed at any time. The key to any contract is negotiating terms and conditions which are favorable to the company. In Australia, competition between providers for BentleyTel's business resulted in the reduction of line lease charges by 60%. All costings/billings were determined at the former amount so this dramatically enhances the profits of BentleyTel. We are gearing up for the Christmas season and expect to have significant revenues from our VoIP Hi-Time discount calling product, www.octa4.net.au/hitime as well as from the release of the BentleyTel Smart-e-Card, with the advanced Global Connexion Card(TM) and Global Unified Messaging scheduled for release first quarter 2001."
