Federal regulation ought to promote individuals saving for their own retirement. We have a 401k, and when most of our employees leave for other jobs, etc. they cash out of the 401k instead of rolling it into their new 401k or IRA. That's simply stupid, plain and simple. The regs ought to be more restrictive to encourage leaving the capital in place, but the third rail is so precious that 401k regulation takes a back seat in the eyes of the government. They don't want you to save too much, since that would make you more dependent. And those that do get penalized on their SSI benefit that they paid into for years and years. SSI is going to be more and more of an income redistribution program as time moves forward. What's the purpose in being an achiever any more??? LoF
