PF - Leaving things alone might have been OK but a change at the top might happen this evening and if there is seems to me that the chances of a deep recession increase. One thing there was not on the last eight years was a deep recession. Maybe it was going to come anyway but based on previous record it would seem much more likely if there is a change.

Also first year of a new administration if a recession seems likely better get it over and done with so as to be in better shape in four years time. Europe slowing down, big financial problems about to break in Korea and a new team at the top. No Robert Rubin, new admin hostile to Mr G who they blame for the loss of the 92 election. Doesn't look very good for a calm market to me. In fact if thats what happens tonight I couldn't think of a worse environment for the markets, world wide.

A year ago might have been different but with the looming mess out there do you think world and for that matter
US markets will be happy about a new and inexperienced team trying to cope with all this? Do you think this ends uncertainty or increases it?

Best regards,

L
