DJ Gore Seen Winning Michigan, Illinois In Big Blows To Bush

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Vice President Al Gore is now projected to win in
Michigan and Illinois, delivering two big blows to Texas Governor George W.
Bush's hopes to be president, according to CNN.
In addition to these two states, Gore has picked up the tiny state of
Delaware. While Delaware doesn't have a significant number of electoral
votes, it has been a reliable bellwether for the overall national election.
Gore's victories in Illinois and Michigan come hard on the heels of the news
that he won in Florida, which put Gore well on his way to win the 270
electoral votes needed to win.
The key to Bush's hopes at this point is Pennsylvania. If Bush loses
Pennsylvania, then it will be difficult - if not impossible - for him to win
the election.
Opinion polls indicate that Bush will pick up the fourth big battleground
state in the East, which is Missouri. However, Missouri is the smallest of
the four major battleground states in the eastern half of the country.
With most of the polls closing up in the east, attention is now turning to
the midwest - where Wisconsin is the next swing state to watch.
All of the election results are preliminary and based on projections taken
from exit polls conducted by major television networks and wires services.
