Investments are not deductable expenses, so it is NOT true that changing the amount of investments will change earings one iota - in the short term. Investments are what one does with after-tax earnings. In the long term, investments will return actual dollars, hopefully, which WILL show up on Intel's bottom line.

Intel does have a great deal of the aformentioned after-tax dollars to invest, however. Bodes well for the future, I'd say.
