Catapult Communications Reports Financial Results for Fourth Quarter 2000
MOUNTAIN View, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2000--Catapult Communications (Nasdaq: CATT - news), a leading provider of advanced software-based test systems to the global telecom industry, reported quarterly revenues and net income for the fourth fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2000.

Total revenues for the fourth fiscal quarter increased to $7.9 million from the $7.3 million reported for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1999. Net income for the fourth fiscal quarter decreased to $2.1 million from the $2.2 million reported for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1999.

Diluted earnings per share for the fourth fiscal quarter decreased to $0.16 from the $0.17 reported for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1999. Earnings per share for the fourth fiscal quarter included a benefit of approximately 1.2 cents per share from a tax refund. There was no corresponding benefit in the fourth quarter of fiscal 1999.

Dr. Richard A. Karp, Catapult's Chairman and CEO, said ``At the beginning of fiscal year 2000, we made the decision to focus our resources and investment on two areas: third generation, or 3G, digital cellular, which allows users to access the Internet, make video calls, receive e-mail and send faxes from a mobile phone or other wireless device; and voice over IP, or VoIP, which enables the Internet to be used for multimedia and other voice-enhanced activities. During the fourth quarter, we successfully completed all scheduled releases of our DCT-2000 software on time. This expanded our list of protocols and variants that support 3G testing to more than 45 and VoIP testing to more than 20. We believe that we continue to support more protocols and variants than any other participant in this market.''
