MARKET TALK-HK: Tom.com Up On JV, Advertisements
1046 [Dow Jones] Tom.com (8001) up 3.6% at $3.625 after company announces strategic partnership with popular finance Web site CN-Markets; CN-Markets will co-produce multimedia contents with Tom.com to supply financial information to latter's finance channel. Tom.com will also take advantage of CN-Markets' proprietary expertise in application services. Separately, Tom reported by Sing Tao Daily to have secured 100 advertising clients by 3Q, up 6.5x from 2Q.(IVW)

1042 [Dow Jones] Softbank Investment (0648) extends wining streak, up 11.6% at $1.64, on speculation since yesterday company setting up risk management fund with Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008); Softbank stock rose 39% yesterday. Officials at Softbank and CyberWorks couldn't be reached for comments. Institutional salesperson at European brokerage says after sell-off over past year amid poor sentiment in tech counters, expects gains will be sustained as sentiment in second-tier tech shares now recovering; but doubts if there's more upside as company lacks strong fundamentals.(STT)
