Of course not, we didn't do it in 1960 because it's too divisive and we shouldn't do it now. The Florida situation is well in hand and there is no way that it won't be handled honestly and fairly. The good news here is the system works. Sometimes in mysterious ways. But American democracy is still intact.

Currently Gore is ahead by about 250,000 in the popular vote. The projection is for Gore to have a 750,000 advantage in the popular vote when the dust settles. So, it's not going to be quite as much a squeaker as the Kennedy election. But, it still could be as bizarre as the Cleveland election in 1888.

Fascinating process.

Looks like the Senate could be evenly split if Bush wins. Which gives Cheney the tie breaker. If Gore wins, Lieberman is replaced by a Republican, and thus the Republicans gain a 51-49 advantage in the Senate. The house remains with the Republicans, sans a couple of the ringleaders in the impeachment circus.
