Given the bizarre nature of the election, I've been wondering exactly what is the LAW. Constitutionally, is the electoral college obligated to exactly follow the state election results? It is in the powers of the electoral college [powers probably isn't the right word] to adjust their votes based on the national vote?

While I'm not completely familiar with the Hayes [or was it Cleveland?] election, it seems the electoral college could have some latitude.

Different hypothetical to the current situation, but given that we have had a corpse win an election. If the President elect were to die before the electoral college meets, what are they "obligated" legally to do?

Just testing whether a bizarre situation can get more bizarre.
