Thoughts a day before Comdex:

1. For the current status quo to be maintained, INTC must ship 5 times more microprocessors than AMD in any given quarter.

2. Inasmuch as AMD's Athy architecture is superior to INTC's PWeeiii architecture, and, inasmuch as AMD over the past 12 months has developed Athy derivative products that are price/performance superior in low, middle and top ends of the PC space, it is inconceivable, based on laws of economics, that the 5/1 status quo can be maintained.

3. Owing to the significant price/performance advantage offered by the AMD Athy product lineup, one might confidently assume that AMD will ship all the product it can produce as long as such a price/performance advantage exists.

4. Tomorrrow's Comdex disclosures should provide additional insight as to just how great the Y2001 performance gap between AMD and its competitors is likely to be...Given the stature of AMD's conference lineup, my guess is that many will be convinced that the performance gap in AMD's favour will widen in Y2001!!!
