Er, not to get overly pedantic, but:

Concerning the speed improvements in web-browsing with faster CPUs: It's somewhat of a "urban legend" that they don't improve at all your browser's speed. For example a 1 Ghz Athlon takes approx. 1000ms in iBench 1.5 with a complex HTML site (load pages (complex)) while a Celeron 600 needs ca. 1700ms to display the same page.

My point with the gigabit ethernet rap was that anything that takes a second or two to render, in an environment where network bandwidth isn't the main limitation, is going to take a lot longer in most realistic open internet environments. Or maybe I'm underestimating what a "complex" web page requires. Being a cranky old guy of sorts, I run with image download off in my browser. Picture worth a thousand words, ancient Chinese proverb? It actually came from a 20th century ad man.

Cheers, Dan.
