I understand your point and it's a very good argument against Intels "P4 makes the internet faster" approach. I just wanted to point out that in relative percentage terms you still have a big difference between say a K6 and an Athlon in internet performance. But since it's only in the low seconds range at best you won't notice it in most cases. It's kind like the very high Quake 3 scores: The human eye can't differentiate more than ca. 30 pictures per seconds so you won't notice that either although it's there and can be measured.

BTW, even with pictures off a HTML page with e.g. many tables can take some time (several seconds) to render, especially with Netscape who loses in most iBench benchmarks against IE by a fairly big margin.
