RESPONDS TO ARTICLE IN TODAY'S VANCOUVER SUN
Concord, ON - November 8, 2000 - Today's edition of The Vancouver Sun
included an article about UBS written by David Baines, which article
contained erroneous statements concerning trades made by certain insiders
and other misleading innuendo. It is the view of UBS that this article is
defamatory in nature and UBS has delivered a letter to The Vancouver Sun
communicating this view to the newspaper and demanding a retraction. If an
appropriate retraction is not provided, UBS will consider its recourse
against the newspaper and Mr. Baines, including the commencement of legal
action.
