I was going to say something snide but I have a rule that I don't make fun of other people's gods. But a web search turned up images of Jesus, Shepherds and Mary in the stumps of trees, wood paneling, and in the trunk of a full grown tree. I know first hand of news reports of "miracles" involving bird droppings on the roof of a restaurant in the shape of the Virgin Mary in the Bay Area.

Yeah, it makes me think... but what it makes me think is that there are literally trillions (maybe more) of shapes that could come out of a tree cut, or the shape of a log, or paint peelings and many of them will produce arcs and circles and curves when viewed at the right angle. In panels joined from symmetrical veneers, it is not unlikely to have hooded shapes with "eyes" from the knot holes.

When I was two years old I saw a "za-za" in the closet. I actually have a clear memory of this: a figure in the knotty pine that comprised the door of said closet. To me, any shape that looked life-like was life-like. But then I grew up.

So, I think there are a lot of "za-zas" in the closets, paneling and tree trunks all around the world. Rambi told us of one in the paint of an old Camaro. God should speak louder to us and in ways that aren't as ambiguous as the campaign statements of politicians.
