Chris, I am sure some Republicans also got turned away. Just as some union members voted Republican. But, on average, the Republicans can get their chauffers to drive them to the polls any time of the day, while Democrats have to wait until their Republican bosses let them off work to vote. Also, when the weather is bad, the Republicans can drive their Humvees to the polls while the Demos drown or freeze in their Ford Escorts. <g> Seriously, there is no question that any limit on voting time hits Democratic candidates much harder than Republicans.

Some things are basic. Republicans are richer than Democrats. Conservatives are dumber than liberals. Does that mean that Teddy Kennedy is poorer than Rick, the dude who lost to Hillary, or that Ralph Nader is smarter than William F. Buckley? No way, Jose. It's just averages of each class, and mass averages are what count in elections.
