I don't know why they needed to put candidates on both sides of the ballot. According to the woman who designed the ballot, the problem was getting all the candidates on one ballot page, while making the type larger enough for the (largely elderly) voters to read. I'm not sure if making the page bigger was feasible or not. Oh, and for the conspiracy theorists out there, the designer of the ballot is a Democrat. Sorry, if solid evidence of deliberate fraud wasn't enough to save poor old Bob Dornan a few years back, I cannot see any sane judge overturning a presidential election just because the Dems shot themselves in the foot.
