Isopatch (OT) I thought long and hard before writing this tonight since I will reveal some "inside" information. Two of my friends from the Carter Administration, both Hispanic Democrats were picked by the Bush Team to be members of Gov. Bush's Administration's Selection Team should Mssr. Bush prevail in the election.
To me that shows real open-mindedness by Mssr. Bush. Sorry about that aside- back to the story. Anyway my friends have links into the Gore Campaign. My friend told me tonight via telephone that Mssr Gore's Team is apparently planning a potential three- pronged attack on the election results.
Plan "A" is to seek a recount of Florida's vote. If in the recount Bush still wins, then possible Plan "B" involves litigation. And subsequent Plan "C" involves intervention into the electoral college process in December itself.
Now I am not saying that Mssr. Gore has yet committed to other than Plan "A" of this three-pronged attack. He has not. However, like Israel's "Solomon Plan", it is being packaged, placed upon the shelf, and is ready for instant use if chosen.
The end game started tonight with a Democratic State Senator named Wexler (D-Florida) as the initial wedge. Four days ago Mssr. Gore's campaign committed to honoring the election results whether or not the electoral and popular votes diverged.
Mssr Wexler's television appearance tonight was the first step in Mssr Gore's repudiating that position taken four days ago. This is a classic method of repudiating a political policy position- we used it frequently in the Carter Administration ourselves.
Send out a Second Lieutenant in order to espouse a position contrary from that which the Main Man has taken. See if he /she receives any flak and then move accordingly. That's what is going on now.
Mssr Gore Isoptach is a very, very ambitious man, if you understand what I am trying to tell you. He has an almost carnal lust for power as strong as say, Gnaeus Pompey or Julius Caesar back in the waning days of the Roman Republic.
Can he control that lust and not provoke a prolonged constitutional crisis if the recount shows Bush to have won Florida? We can keep our fingers crossed....
In any case be nimble on your feet with your portfolio.....
P.S. If we reopened the elction for voting irriegularites, then we'd need to reopen New Mexico, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Pennsylvania according to some "canoodling" that went on like multiple voting, dead peple voting, 100% pefect turnouts in certain inner city districts where cameras at the polls showed only modest voter turnouts, etc. Hell this in only on eelction- Let's don't go down that road....My final prediction- In 2008 Hillary Clinton will square off against Colin Powell.....
Also the electoral college will not be removed as small population states would otherwise lose any influence that they currently have in national politics/elections....And the Constituion was bult in that fashion in order to force consideration of the small states perspectives on issues...Just look at how few states Mssr. Gore actually won - yet he is in the running for the Presidency...Theoretcially you could ignore the people in all 30 states carried by Bush and still control the country.... |
