Pinellas County announced that they screwed up the re-count, and that some ballots weren't counted, and that they would recount it again tomorrow, which is why the vote totals disappeared. They had a swing of nearly 500 for Gore, and this may be the same tomorrow. Pinellas is by far the biggest county left, and the one of only 5 that were pro-Gore (the other pro-Gore counties left are Orange, Alchua, Monroe, and Pasco), and one of only 2 that gave a sizable margin to Gore, the other being Alchua.

As for Volusia County, here were the original returns, along with the number that would have been predicted if the votes had run the same as they did statewide:

Votes Predicted Difference
Gore 97,063 96,525
Bush 82,214 97,095
Buchanan 396 583
Nadar 2,436 3,242
Browne 3,211 537 2,674
Hagelin 33 77
Harris 9,888 20 9,868
McReynolds 3 44
Morehead 59 60
Philips 2,927 46 2,881

How many standard deviations from the norm would you say Harris' vote is? LOL Maybe Volusia County is the national headquarters for the Socialist party and the totals are real, but they sure look strange to me. On the other hand, you are correct that Volusia announced recount results already with no changes at all. Strange....
