Namibian Minerals Corporation (NAMCO) Appoints New COO
LONDON, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Namibian Minerals Corporation (Namco) (Nasdaq: NMCOF - news) today announced the appointment of Bruce Evans as Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.

Since 1988, Mr Bruce Evans has been a Principal international consultant with Steffen, Robertson and Kirsten (SRK), a mining consulting group with offices in the UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, South America and Australia. Mr Evans has led a consulting team advising Namco since 1995, playing a key role in independently auditing Namco's operations, in particular the review of feasibility studies for its seabed crawler mining technology.

Before co-founding SRK's UK practice, Mr Evans has held a number of senior positions including Chief Executive of the Gold and Uranium Division of Gencor, now Billiton, (1984 - 1988) where he was responsible for 12 mines producing 100 tonnes of gold per year with 100 000 employees, Group Senior Manager of the Gold and Uranium Division of Gencor (1982 - 1984), Senior Manager of Union Corporation (1979 - 1982) and Mine Manager for Richards Bay Minerals (1976 - 1978). From 1964 to 1978 he held various positions in mine management and development.

Namco is Africa's second largest ocean diamond producer with 18 000 sq.km. of concessions off the coast of Namibia and South Africa and a fleet of five vessels. 95% of Namco's diamond production is gem quality. In 2000, the Company has been focused on the development of its new mining vessel, MV Ya Toivo, and its second exploration programme, which started in third quarter.
