Clearly, if you were one of the most brilliant minds in software, you would choose to work in a sexier field than legacy system maintenance, which is about as boring as you can get, and if for some strange reason that was your choice, it would not take 14 years to come up with a product. There were mature products in this field over a decade ago, and a good team could develop an optimal automated conversion tool in less than a year.
