Exactly, and some did. Chris Matthews interviewed a woman last night who punched the Buchanan hole, then punched the Gore hole, realized her mistake, and turned her ballot into the poll judge for a new ballot. She said that she thought that some people probably were too embarrassed about their mistake to exchange their ballot. Yet, these people are not too embarrassed to look twice as incompetent to cry foul after the fact.
Like I said, if the margin was 50,000 votes, no one would be complaining, just like on Election Day when they thought that their vote probably wasn't worth asking for a new ballot.
The flawed assumption is made that everyone in Palm Beach County will cast their votes in a revote as they intended to cast them on Election Day. FALSE! Knowing that their vote truly effects the National results, who knows how these people will vote? They're not bound to vote the way they originally intended. Have any of those original voters died, left the country on a trip, or done anything else that may effect the outcome of a revote?
A revote is an attempt to steal the ballot box by a party that will apparently lose the National election- pure and simple. If the recount shows that Gore won, then so be it. Otherwise, he needs to quit dispatching his minions under the banner of "the DNC" or "confused voters". If he doesn't, he will be the sorest loser in history. The American people and the media are not as stupid as he thinks. They will see the crisis that he creates.
I would note that Gore has not called for a recount in Iowa or Wisconsin (to be fair, you know). I would expect that to occur (from the Bush side) if GWB loses FL in the recount.
