...corporations are ripping the government out of tax $$$$ continually, there is not enough Tax Collectors...

Perhaps an observation from someone who's been self-employed for a bit...

Our tax regulations are tough to understand. So tough, RevCan cannot give accurate interpretations regarding numerous 'grey' areas. Compound the difficulty of complying not only with federal regulations, but ten different provincial tax bureaucracies make the waters even muddier. We're lucky, U.S., companies face 51 sets of regulation.

My point is this: Most citizens wish to comply fully with their tax obligations, but the complexity of the regulations has far outstripped human ability, making their task impossible.

What would you do when repeated requests for information from Revenue Canada brings a different answer each time? Who's advice would you follow when tax advisors and tax collectors disagree not only with each other, but with their own coleagues as well? How do you follow the tax regulations where they are vague or inconsistent?

Cheers, PW.
