Sorry about getting back to you - the weekend and all kind of took control.
While things, per Manfield, are starting to improve, on a relative scale the numbers seriously lag a year ago's, and have for some time. Also, if you go back to mgmt.'s comments re: 4Q earnings, you'll see Manfield discussing improved bookings in the early 1Q '97 (press release came out 2/24/97). Now when you look at the most recent earnings release, it appears bookings picked up later: "Our bookings activity improved significantly in March and has continued through April" (which, of course, can't be quantified due to the quarter ending 3/31/97). I'm not trying to paint Jim Manfield in a negative light, as I found him to be straight-forward and forthcoming when I've spoken w/ him. But I truly feel he's trying to generate some excitement, letting his shareholders know that things will get better some time in the future. While I am a VTC fan, the last year has been a very frustrating one for this past shareholder, and it would likely be some time before I feel the co.'s back on the horse. -Khris |
