I can remember opinions on France, Germany- we are always analyzing and criticizing leaders everywhere. Of course the opinions voiced by our President and our congressman are usually hopelessly provincial and ignorant- even when they are right, it's usually for the wrong reasons. For what it's worth- I think Europeans see us much more clearly than we see Europeans. Maybe it's because many Europeans actually speak other languages, and many speak English- while poor Americans usually only speak English (of course if they are lucky enough to be born to hispanic American parents- they might turn out to be bilingual).
