globalstar.com Globalstar home page. First launch on schedule for October. Base stations [4] on target for construction by then in Texas, France, Korea and Australia [Dubbo, 200 km west of Sydney]. Satellite production underway by Alenia Spazio - with the first 4 now in final assembly and testing in Rome, Italy. Ground Operational Control Centre in San Jose, California now complete. 33 Gateways for ground link have been ordered. Handsets to be designed and produced by Qualcomm, Ericsson [Orbitel] and now Telital of Italy. All looking very good for 3 million subscribers by 2002 per business plan. Maurice
