Quest Software Inc. (QSFT, NASDAQ) is a Irvine, California based company that
delivers information and application availability solutions for e-business. It
targets three significant business areas: development and deployment of
applications and databases; performance and availability of those applications and
databases; and information delivery solutions for the distribution of information
across the Internet. Quest’s products deliver an enterprise, report-based
information management solution that indexes, prints and archives report data
from multiple applications for distribution over the Internet.

Informatica Corporation (INFA, NASDAQ) is a company that is based in Palo
Alto, California. It is a provider of e-business analytic solutions, including
enterprise data-integration software platform and analytic applications that help
companies evaluate their performance across the entire e-business value chain.
Clients include companies in industries ranging from financial services,
manufacturing and retail to software and utilities.

Neon Systems, Inc. (NESY, NASDAQ) is a Texas based company with sales and
support located in 25 countries throughout the world. It is a provider of e-business
integration, security and subsystem management software. Neon’s
primary product family, Shadow, enables the deployment of new applications
and the extension of legacy applications across a variety of computing
environments, including the Internet and client/server and mainframe systems.

New Era of Networks (NEON, NASDAQ) is based in Colorado and is a supplier
of Internet infrastructure software and services. The company helps automate e-business
by providing products and services that integrate Internet-facing
applications with core operational systems for goods and services providers. Its
products enable e-markets by routing messages and transforming information.
New Era of Networks also provide design, development and implementation
services through its professional services organization.

IDION Technology Holdings (IDI, JSE) is an information-based company based
in Cape Town, South Africa. The company has four subsidiaries with IDION
Software being a competitor for DataMirror. It delivers leading edge software
products and professional services to the IBM AS/400 market on a worldwidebasis. Its core business is the development, distribution and support of computer
software with products for continuous availability, resource management and
systems management in the partitioning/clustering space.

UNIX, Windows NT and Mainframe Markets — A bias exists in these markets
towards database vendors, such as Microsoft Corp. (MSFT, NASDAQ), who
include some data transformation and replication functionality in their products.
However, these vendors have little incentive to transform or replicate data to
other vendors’ databases. These vendors also take a batch approach whereas
DataMirror’s Transformation Server processes the data in real time. Thus,
DataMirror’s key differentiator is its change data capture engine.
