OT (election):
You've got the players reversed in your little drama. If the final count goes against him in Florida, I expect Bush to concede. The onus is on Mr. Gore, should he lose the count, to do likewise. It's the Gore camp that's threatening to deepen the mess in their favourite forum, the courts. This sort of heads-I-win tails-you-lose thinking constantly astounds me. (Like, for instance, when Reagan's veto shuts down the government, it's the president's fault, but when Clinton's does so, it's all down to the congress, eh?)
Chill out! Hey, how about both candidates ask their electors to unanimously elect someone based on the outcome of some agreed-upon contest? Can you picture it? Bush vs. Gore on WWF smackdown, can't get more American than that! If it's a tie, Jesse Ventura becomes president.
