The news that Wacker is buying NSC silicon assets was reported on www.semibiznews.com a day or two ago. While not particularly indicative of WFR's competitive prospects, it does put Wacker in the #2 spot behind SEH and probably drops WFR to 4th behind Sumitomo.

There was language in the report which could be read to say that the long awaited de-commoditization of substrates may finally be visible, just over the horizon (rosy glow?) ;^}
