Dan re..Harry, do you know how much money Rupert Murdoch tried to give to Newt?<<

No, but I would venture to say a lot. Our politicians are anything but cheap.

If you actually follow the money, News corporation doesn't really qualify as American by any stretch of the imagination.

At least news corporation has business in this country and employs people and Ruppert doesn't live in a country diametrically opposed to our principles.. The state of China shouldn't be giving, nor should the president be accepting political contributions to help foreign governments with protection, and or allowing Hughes to sell state secrets.

I'd be more than happy to have lobbying and campaign finance reform, but legislation like that hasn't gone anywhere in Congress.

Reform will never go anywhere as long as we put up with this form of bribery. Just keep on voting the rascals out of office until they get the hint. This time Al, four yrs from now GW, until they get the hint.

I believe Newt said we need more money of that sort, not less.<<<<<

At least Newt had a few principles left and left office; which is more than I can say for some people. I don't want to name names, but his initials are William Jefferson Clinton.
