Please excuse any typos as I tried to rush this.

Ok Here is a late update from MSNBC on which I saw a press conference from the FL election comm. As of now unofficially there are 362 votes in favor of GWB. The absolute final counting will not be complete until the 17th of Nov., which is the deadline for all absentee ballots.

Following the news conference there was discussion between and representatives from both Bush & Gore. My thumbnail take on what was said is this. The Democrats will make an issue of the 19,120 disallowed votes. They spoke of those voters as having been disenfranchised after having made the
effort to cast a ballot and then have it throw out. It appears they will make every effort to re validate those ballots which seems to politicize them. The Republican rep. is satisfied to wait for the outcome of the re count. There was strong rebuttal from the Bush side that those ballots were invalidated as they were completed erroneously. That those voters were not disenfranchised, that at every election there are many ballots from the county in question which are invalidated because of error. The question was posed that this would set an untenable precedent as how negated ballots would be handled in the future. There was objection to the Gore position that only the voters from this election who completed ballots incorrectly were considered disenfranchised.

My comments:
It is quite obvious that the Gore camp is not concerned with the current count or any absentee ballots. They are going for the big prize of the 19,120 invalidated ballots. They will take the position that the ballots were defective and though it has long been the practice of discarding them
they will move to reclaim them. They are unconcerned the ballots were pre approved or that it has been common procedure to disallow defective ballots. This is not going to be pretty, as it was inferred even a positive recount for Bush would not settle the issue.
