A democrat won last time, a republican this time. Both times, a large number (16,000, 19,000) of votes in one county were thrown out because the ballot was double punched. Supposedly, anyway. They can change the format of the ballot (and I think ballots should have a nationally accepted format), but gimme a break, as American citizens we have rights but also duties, and if someone punches twice, they need to ask for a new ballot. Moreover if they found it confusing, why didn't they protest when it was published in the newspaper ahead of time? Does their will only become apparent when they're peeved at the outcome?
Freedom and its discontents....that is the problem here at this point. Too much freedom leading to too little responsibility, and a lot of whining afterwards.
Moreover, the recount was one thing, but the threatening of lawsuits today was pretty deplorable. The Republicans have behaved with grace through this ordeal. Was their will not subverted when the networks called a Gore win before the polling was complete, and thousands of Republicans in western Florida walked away from the polls or didn't go, figuring their vote was useless?
Not that either party is exempt. The rep. recently attempted a political coup of Clinton because of receiving fellatio from an intern a few times. Both parties and the media at times are quite disgusting. I was pro-Clinton; I voted for Gore with a lot of ambivalence, or rather, I voted democratic, in spite of disliking Gore, and I dislike him now more than ever and pray that Bush wins.
And that the market stabilizes--although Theresa would say, what's the difference, a trader's a trader! <g> But I am at heart a bull. |
