Bush campaign ponders recount in Wisconsin. [also Iowa]

[Wisconsin does not have an automatic recount law like Florida]

"There was some improper activity in the city of Milwaukee. We don't know how widespread that was and what effect it might have had on the overall vote."

"Both Wisconsin and Iowa handed Gore slim victories. Unofficial tallies showed Gore won in Wisconsin by 6,099 votes out of the almost 2.6 million cast, and in Iowa by 4,949 votes of 1.2 million cast. Wisconsin has 11 electoral votes and Iowa 7."

"The governor is going to wait for the final election tallies to come in from across the state, which likely will be Monday or Tuesday," Jewell said. "Once those numbers are in, we will take a look at them, and confer with Governor Bush and decide whether to seek a recount."
