I think it's ludicrous to get all of a state's electoral votes based on a majority of only one vote. Keep the electoral college, but apportion the electoral votes according to the popular vote. So in FL give 13 to Bush and 12 to Gore, and do this for all states. This way the small states maintain their voting power and the popular vote in each state is properly represented in the outcome.
