This Florida Vote Controversy Could be One of the Best Things that has happened in this Country in many a year If it is resolved in such a way that causes a meaningful change in how officials are elected in our system.
Before I go on, let me also say if it don't get resolved it will also
result in one of the worst 4 years this country has seen in years; even worse than Watergate or Vietnam, & I'm as serious as a heart attack.
Very few people are looking at the Nitroglycerin in this situation,
but it's there. I've been involved in politics since age 12, the
good bad and ugly of it all, not that I've seen it all, I'm only 63,
but I've seen enough to know that no one else has either
and I can appreciate the fact that if the world survives another
500 years we will be looked back on much like we look back
on the dark ages, and most of our now self righteous
morality will look criminal in the eyes of ages to come.
We say we need to play by the rules, but forget that most
of the rules were made self serving by people who had the
power to make them. I think what makes a man is how he
would live his life if there were no man made rules,
also when rules are put aside, I find that most people
are good and will help their fellow man just for the
sake of being helpful. Sometimes I think it's the
rules that tend to make monsters of us all.
Well back to the problem, It's not going away in a day or two, or even a month or two; and it could divide this country like nothing has since the Civil War, it's that serious. You may not think so at this time
and lets hope it don't; but, this type of infection incubates
and spreads then incubates and spreads some more.
If all we do is argue and nit pick back and forth about where
the votes went or how ballets were printed or who got the
popular vote we make things worse , it takes objectivity
and a good look at the "mechanics" of our National voting system
which is not only outdated but was invented years ago by people who
knew they were going to make mistakes. They knew it would be
be a trial and error process as it was new to them; and they had
no real idea of where they were going with it. They only knew
what they were trying to put behind them, and they were
willing to gamble on finding something better.
So now we find Florida an emotional charged State, with the burden
of thinking that the out come of just who won the election
will change the world. ( it won't )
What can change the world is if we can look at "HOW IT COULD
HAVE BEEN AVOIDED TO START WITH" and then take action to
implement that as a solution to this problem.
Taking it to court to decide "who won" BUSH or GORE will
have ramifications that will drag on and on, and will
cause many long term harmful results which will be over looked
and or latter blamed on something else, like what pulled the
trigger or lit the fuse, is often blamed with out considering
how the situation became so explosive in the first place.
The truth is this did not have to happen, & the fault is in
the system and it should have been corrected a long time
ago and neither party nor the all wise Supreme Court
has seen fit to do a dam thing to correct it.

I know many are thinking I'm about to get into the electoral
collage thingy, NO..not close I don't need to tackle
that with all it's faults in order to point at something with
worse faults and a higher priority to fix.
