Scrapps, this is quite unusual for me to be disagreeing with you, but there really is an overriding issue here. Was the will of the people served? Did all of the people who cast their vote have their votes recorded properly?

You can talk about voting rules and process all you want, but the trump to all of that is that there looks to be a subversion of some voters will to select Gore over Bush in this one particular county.

Is the election to be decided along the narrow lines of whether some people are to be disenfranchised of their intent to vote by a confusing (to them) ballot? Is the right to their exercise of citizenship conditioned upon an IQ test, that the ballot must be a puzzle to be mastered in order for their vote to count? You know that there is no fairness to that. So does George Bush if he has the Presidential Right Stuff all of his supporters say that he does.

If he continues to hold that the election is his because of some technicality over the higher regard for serving the will of the people, then I think they will be playing Hail to the Cheat, whenever he enters a room. He will be bankrupt of any moral authority for an office that he is pledged to restore moral authority to.
