Just a guess. ;)

Isn't it a sad reflection on our transient society that our neighbours are rarely our friends? I once read that Canadians move, on average, every 5 years. I often wonder how much that contributes to a lack of a sense of community.

A few decades ago, our family lived in a neighbourhood where all the neighbours were friends. (I suppose that was helped by the fact that they almost all shared the same cultural background). The sense of community is something I miss. It was also hard for a kid to go bad when everyone around spoke to his parents at least once a week.
