For those that were foolish [count me] enough to hope that less bickering might be the result of this; We have this report from the United Kingdom....

FRIDAY NOVEMBER 10 2000

Heads or tails, Democrats cannot take control of the Senate

FROM BEN MACINTYRE IN WASHINGTON

.....Trent Lott, the Senate Majority Leader, greeted Mrs Clinton’s election with characteristic disdain, and what sounded oddly like a death-wish for the Democratic senator-elect: “I tell you one thing, when this Hillary gets to the Senate — if she does, maybe lightning will strike and she won’t — she will be one of 100 and we won’t let her forget it.”

If Mr Lott’s tone is anything to judge by, this divided Congress is likely to be an acutely partisan one.....
