In '96 15,000 votes in the same area were thrown out because of double punched ballots. If we decide to break the rules it becomes an endless battle for lawyers.
First, the TV networks claimed a Gore victory before polls were closed in the panhandle. This certainly cost Bush thousands of votes. And then you have endless voting improprieties elsewhere which would benefit each party. Either you live with the decision as is or you risk our democracy. If after the mail in ballots are counted and Gore wins, then he is president. If Bush then has the lead then, so be it.
