Cooters - I'm just catching up. How could non-registered voters vote? Here in NYC even the NY Times is calling for responsible action by Gore and questioning the current course. This is now about personalties and egos and Al Gore, trained from birth as a political animal with anamistic reactions, to win at all costs, relies on Bill Daley, a scion of the family that defined 20th Century Chicago machine politics to guide his challenges to Palm Beach County ballots. Senator Ashcroft epitomizes gentlemanly conduct, and he had about the best case imaginable. Al Gore seems psychologically incapable of similar action. America's welfare is being challenged. As a Bush supporter, I want to believe that he would withdraw if the results were reversed, but... Can we take 10 more days of absentee overseas ballot counting, and then litigation which perhaps can only be resolved by the Supreme Court? Should I fear for the Republic? John
