Bill:

"In desktops and PC the AMD products have shown themselves to be equal to or better than Intel CPUs and also cheaper. That is why AMD share grows in both corporate space and home space. I expct in a year there will be SMP products from AMD that will start to eat Intels SMP products, and they will be better as well as cheaper."

Agreed...One step at a time...AMD's major Y2000 objective of providing a competitive product across all ranges in the PC market has not only been met, but exceeded by all reasonable expectations that were in place one year ago...AMD's continuing positive trends (i.e. minimum 22% growth rate estimate for Y2001)in the PC marketplace seem assured given its current stable of superior product offerings in terms of price/performance across all MHz ranges...As well, AMD seems fairly confident regarding the prospects for its workstation, mobile and server offerings destined for Y2001 delivery which, if even a modicum of success is achieved, will compliment the growing PC market revenues handsomely in Y2001...Imagine AMD's financial performance in Y2001 if planned new workstation, mobile and server products are warmly received, and if AMD ASP's gravitate towards INTC's, well above $100, a scenario which, from my perspective seems more likely than the very positive but "sandbagged" prospects that were laid out yesterday by AMD management...
