when reagan came into office we were the largest 'creditor' nation in the world. we held more assets than any country in the world. when he left we were the largest debtor nation, trillions in debt... he created a boom with a credit card and was extremely irresponsible fiscally. he cut taxes, and spending increased. bush himself called it voodoo economics, and it failed. we experienced the energy crisis and due to reagan posture, as we lacked price support in the oil industry. bush favored price support even as vice president, reagan did not. the oil industry shut down, the oil states collapsed and the banking system went into the greatest crisis since the great depression. yeah reagan created the economic boom.
