Your response assumes Vinson's ballet was the only one stolen. If, say, one out of ten ballots were snatched and forged in the direction the thief wanted they would clearly get some who would've gone their direction anyway. The point is that they would be able to affect the ones who would have gone against their candidate.

There's no problem with this story, especially IF there truly was some mail theft and forgery. Should Vinson sue because he was denied his right to vote? I wouldn't support that action. Nor do I think he should be handed another ballot.
