I am not taking this position, but consider this contrarian perspective: the Bellcore technology has been around for approaching a decade and nobody (except VLNC, in a minor way) has commercialized it. It's a nice technology from an academic point-of-view, but not viable commercially (if it were viable commercially, wouldn't the big battery players who are Bellcore licensees -- with their deep, deep pockets and thousands of capable engineers, have already figured out how to commercialize it?). Bellcore, recognizing it's got an aging patent with no immediate prospects of significant licensing fees, sells the patents to the only interested party: VLNC, perpetuating VLNC's myth that it has a viable technology that it will cash in on.
Before you slam me, reread the first line. This is not my point-of-view. Any thoughts?????
