There's something about taking the oath of office, and moving into the big white house, that gives authority to the person in the office. It's a problem that will suddenly vaporize. They've got until December to make this happen.

The 1876 election was marked by fraud, I understand. The only real danger facing the eventual winner is the perception that he cheated to gain the office. I'm confident that both Gore and Bush are aware of this danger, and will do nothing that might smack of dirt.
