bp,

I'm sorry... but that is CRAP! And yes, I'm starting to get irritated. That is simply a cop out. If after all these attempts to do the right thing (which there is no doubt in my mind that everyone was trying to do) we find that it still caused issues, then it should be fixed... bottom line. Suggesting that "well you didn't say anything until now..." is the answer is a cop out... especially if we believe that the will of the people is being usurped.

We all know that IF the ballots didn't cause issues that those 19,000 votes would have been counted and we also know (as does the Bush campaign) that if they were counted he would lose. So, in 1996 the ballots were a rounding error - this year they will decide who is president. That all said nothing can be done now.. it 's over... it useless to discuss. BUT, anyone that suggests for a minute that it's OK to throw away 19,000 ballots - FOR ANY REASON - I DON'T CARE WHAT IT IS... HAS BEEN SMOKING TOO MUCH CRACK! And it's a travesty that it happened in 1996.. and it's even a bigger travesty of justice that it wasn't fixed and will cost Gore the election... because bottom line... it appears that IF ALL the votes counted, that Gore would have won the election. And to suggest that the Demo's had a chance to fix the ballot beforehand and didn't is an excuse is a joke. I can't tell you how many times things are tested and fail. Could it be that the Demo's didn't forsee the issue? Does that make it OK to throw away 19,000 votes? I don't think so.

In the end it's not the voters that are deciding the election but the state of Florida who can't seem to build a ballot that the old people can figure out. So, tally up the votes.. throw some away and then lets decide who is president based upon the remaining votes.

ENOUGH. I don't want to talk about this anymore. We clearly have a difference of opinion..
