Dave: RE how many Palestinian lives would have been saved I read Zeev's post and thought how clumsy his port was. All I can add to this meager discussion is that my wife came up with the analogy of the US vs the native Americans in 19th century. You have your 1st world / 3rd world total misunderstands of each others desires and the concept of the promise land for Israel which is a lot like the concept of eminent domain for the US. I guess Australia's and South Africa's conflicts with their native peoples in the 19th Century are similar in some regards. In the end, 1st world always wins out over 3rd world. However, the victors are embodied with permanent guilt feelings because they implemented their dominance in our imperfect world in a manner that belies all the admirable human qualities we believe we posess as children of God. john
