I don't understand why everyone thinks there is a year end rally.

I am so accustomed to seeing a Santa Claus rally due to people/funds buying then. We have some factors in our favor now.
- we are off around 40% from the March highs
- funds have to have put that 10% cash to work.
- earning season is almost over and most of the bad news is past
- no rate hike coming
- unemployment still low
- inflation still low
- interest rates are reasonable
- oil prices have been going down for the last two months

Tax loss selling seems to be overrated for affecting the market since you can only carry $3000 into the schedule D for any one year. Now if your are up 100K and need to sell 98K of losses to avoid taxes, then it is a different story. I doubt many are looking to trim down losers to lower taxes.
