My speculation has been that the extra space is to be used for oxygen implantation equipment. IIRC, there are currently about 10k wafers per month being manufactured, so AMD would probably need to do their own once production starts. Now this does not preclude them starting with purchased wafers before the facility is done. The building itself is planned to be finished by the end of April, I would guess they can have the facility setup and production started by the start of Q3.
