Just wondering if there is any possibility that some electors (in Florida or elsewhere for that matter) may not vote they way they are "supposed to" next month when the REAL Presidential election takes place. I think it has happened in a few rare cases in the past. And given an election that is so amazingly close both in the nation as a whole and in the key state of Florida, I'm wondering if that is more likely to happen than usual.

Yes, they could vote the other way, in any state.

Personally, I'm for scrapping the Electoral College system. And this is one reason. The Electoral College was devised at a time when democracy was untested. The founding fathers feared the public would be prone to radical changes if given a direct vote. 200 plus years of history is testimony to the moderation of the American public.

The founding fathers feared radical changes? We have that now. The Electoral College system didn't create this
problem. In fact, it has prevented the problem from being
wide spread. The Electoral College system has confined
the controversy to one state, as it is now. If the
Electoral system were removed, and the Popular Vote being
so close, every county, in every state would be affected.
If Gore threatens legal action, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregan,
possibly Calif, will go through what Florida just went through. If Gore accepts defeat, like other Democrats urge
him to do, this will be over next week. Gore is the key to
dragging this out, not the Electoral College system. The closness of the vote helped bring about a recount, in one state. With almost 100 million votes cast, and such a small
sepreation between Gore and Bush, the Popular Vote system
would cause all states to do a re-count. Hillary was to remove the Electoral. Not even in office yet, and true to
Democrat fashion, wants to screw up a good thing.
